As the eyes and ears for the Borough at the scene or at the Tactical Coordinating Group you are cirtical for an effective response, ensuring the District and Borough’s response dovetails the response of other organisations.

Through our carefully constructed courses, you’ll be ready to become an integral part of emergency response within the Borough.

We are well aware that emergency planning most likely isn’t a part of your day job. Therefore, this course will teach you the basics of joint working and tiers of command, building up to more practical skills such as how to translate strategic decisions made in the BECC into tactical responses.

No matter how little knowledge of emergency planning you have now, we are sure that after completing this course you’ll feel a lot more assured of your roles and responsibilities as an ILO and how you fit in to the Borough emergency response plans.

Most of the training offered to our long term Local Authorities is free for all staff. Where courses are not free, this will be indicated.

This is the course you need to attend before you can become an active ILO. We also offer on-going refresher training and there are also a range of exercises you can get involved in.

In addition, we highly recommend the LRF Introduction to Civil Protection to supplement it.
