Give your staff the confidence to help people when they need it most. This course isn't about complicated theory
or therapeutic techniques. It's about enabling your staff to identify when someone needs a bit more support, and then giving them ways to help them in the immediate moment, as well as signposting them to ongoing services. This training is invaluable for anyone dealing with people affected by an incident.

This course is great for
Anyone on the front line of response to an emergency (e.g. staff at the scene, staff working in a rest centre), and their line managers.

We'll cover

  • Recognising the signs that people are overwhelmed by their reactions
  • Practical techniques to help calm and orient those affected
  • Recognising a variety of short-term survivor stress reactions and help people to manage them
  • How to conduct an appropriate helpful conversation with those affected in order to establish their needs and wishes, both during the incident and afterwards
  • How to identify those who may need professional support
  • How to signpost and support

This training is delivered via the Surrey Local Resilience Forum (SLRF). A member of the Applied Resilience team will book you on to your preferred date once you have made your booking here.
