Bio

Abdi is a seasoned emergency planning and resilience specialist with expertise in nuclear threat reduction, radiation protection, and incident management. He holds an MSc from King’s College London and previously worked at the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE), where he supported national radiation response efforts and trained police forces during high-profile events including the G7 as well as supporting the response to the Salisbury incident.

At Applied Resilience, Abdi leads resilience and business continuity programmes across a number of local authorities, leveraging his expertise in incident management, business continuity planning, emergency training, and multi-agency engagement. Abdi has played a key role in responding to a wide range of incidents, including local flooding, major fires, refugee support operations, and event resilience for the Epsom Derby. With his strong technical background and hands-on emergency response experience, he ensures local authority teams are equipped to respond confidently and effectively to complex challenges.
