Applied Resilience supports the emergency response to Chobham Wildfire

Tuesday 25th August 2020

Applied Resilience supported its local authority partners with managing a large wildfire on Chobham Common. Jess Lira, our Resilience Manager who deployed to the scene said "Fire services have done a fantastic job at managing this dangerous fire and reducing the impact on residents. Unfortunately, our colleagues in Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead needed to evacuate a number of residents for their safety, but thankfully, no one was hurt. This kind of rapid, multi-agency, joined-up response is crucial in managing emergencies like this, which sadly are becoming more frequent."

Nick Moon, our Managing Director said "Major emergency responses are always a challenge, but with most parts of the public sector still diverting huge resources to the COVID-19 response and with serious challenges such as local government re-organisation, managing the long term changes accelerated by COVID, the risk of a second waive and EU Exit on the horizon, council's are really going through it at the moment. It is so important that council's are ready to respond and Runnymede and Surrey Heath, proudly supported by Applied Resilience certainly were".
